1992年ピッツバーグにて結成されたhurlを母体に、mat daly, matt jencik, noah legerの３人によって99年シカゴにて結成。盟友Don Caballeroと共にピッツバーグ・シーンを牽引して来た彼等。matt jencikはそんなDon Caballeroでもベースプレイヤーとして参加していたり、ドラムのnoah legerはMilemarkerやChallengerでの活躍が有名であろう。2005年に日本のBALLOONSと共にラウンドしたUS TOUR最終日のピッツバーグ公演を最後に活動休止。レコーディング済みであったにも関わらずお蔵入りになっていた2ndアルバムをSAY HELLO TO NEVER RECORDINGSが独占リリース! ジャパンリリースにはhurlのアウトテイクをボーナストラックとして追加。オリジナルアートワーク。BALLOONS、LEDの塩川剛志によるライナーノーツ封入。

TAKING PICTURES was a Chicago post-punk band that existed in the early 2000s. They released their first album “Friends are Ghosts” in 2002 & recorded the follow-up In 2004/5 but the band broke up before it was released. Featuring ¾ of the Pittsburgh band Hurl, Mat Daly, Matt Jencik & Noah Leger toured with bands like Shipping News, Milemarker & Balloons & shared stages with Lungfish, Paul Newman & Fear (yes that Fear) to name a few. In 2013 the Japanese label Say Hello to Never (run by members of Balloons) finally released the band’s second album “2113”. Members of TAKING PICTURES went on to play with bands such as DISAPPEARS, FACS, IMPLODES & touring band versions of PAPA M & SLINT.
