ここ日本における独特の言い回しである「激情」という言葉が今や定着し、若い世代が堂々と「激情」を演奏している姿も確認できている昨今。それこそ、そういった枠に収まるバンドをプレゼンして牽引してきたのは紛れもなく3LAのお陰であったと思うし、実際にコロナ禍で世のオッサン激情シーンが全く音沙汰無くなった時でも、moreruやquiquiなど若手のフックアップに従事し、新しくバンドを始めようとするリスナーに確実なチカラを与えたはずである。 海外においてはいつごろから「スクリーモ」と呼ばれるのが当たり前になったのかは分からないが、海外の「それ」と日本の「激情」には若干のズレというか認識の違いがあるように感じている。 それは海外のLovitt系や、オリジナルだと言われるEbullition系、もしくはメタルやブラストも取り入れるようになったLEVEL PLANE系とも違い、あくまでもenvyの「それ」に直結している音であると感じている。 しかし、長年そうであった「激情」という枠組みにもサブスクの波が押し寄せ、その捉え方や具現化の方法にも変化が感じられるようになってきつつも、記録や伝達なきシーンが災いしてか、形骸化が甚だしいようにも感じ得る。 私が彼らと出会ったキッカケは当時のSNSであるmixiだった記憶があるが、その流れで沖縄ツアーを敢行した際も、こんな沖縄という土壌にこんな暗いバンドがいてどうなってんだよ、とは思ったが、当時はまだ激情というよりポストロック主体の音を展開していた彼らも、いつしかメンバーは入れ替わり、いつのまにか情感激しい音をひたすら演奏するバンドへシフトしていたが、元々が沖縄という地の人間たちなのでマイペースすぎる活動故に、解散らしき情報が聞こえず、またメンバーからの便りがなくとも「ナンクルナイサ」スタイルで人知れずスタンドスティルを続けていた結果、いつのまにか結成20年初単独音源という場所まで辿り着きつつ、インフォを観る限りでは、またもやメンバーは入れ替わったようだが、その方向性には大幅な変化はなくとも、着実に一歩づつ地道に楽曲を磨いてきた痕跡は確認出来るし、今では希少とさえなった「激情」そのものたる音像が展開され、それこそ今の若い子が鳴らしている新しめの激情しか知らない耳には新鮮に映えること間違いなしの孤高さにたどり着いたと確信しつつも、沖縄という離島に旅人を迎えるというスタンスの在り方が、自分たちのハブ的な使命感とハブ酒の紹介を怠らず、新旧問わず様々なバンドとの交流や共演を気に着実に名前が知れ渡っていくのを、今後も傍目から生存確認として私の目に映るための一つの便りのような音源である。 イトーヒロタツ（killie/3cmtour） In Japan, the term "Gekijou" (passionate/emotional hardcore) has become a firmly established genre, and today, we see a younger generation performing it with pride. I believe it was undoubtedly 3LA who spearheaded this movement by presenting and leading bands within that framework. Even during the pandemic, when the "old man Gekijou scene" went silent, 3LA stayed busy hooking up younger acts like moreru and quiqui, surely empowering listeners who were looking to start their own bands. I’m not sure exactly when the term "screamo" became the standard overseas, but I feel there is a slight disconnect—a difference in perception—between "that" and Japanese "Gekijou." To me, it feels distinct from the Lovitt Records style, the original Ebullition sound, or even the Level Plane era that incorporated metal and blast beats. It feels like a sound directly connected to the lineage of envy. However, the framework of Gekijou, which stood for so long, has been hit by the wave of streaming services. While changes in how it's perceived and manifested are emerging, I also feel a sense of extreme fossilization—perhaps a consequence of a scene that lacks proper documentation or transmission. My first encounter with them was, if I recall, on the social network mixi. When I later toured Okinawa, I remember thinking, "How does a place like Okinawa produce a band this dark?" Back then, their sound was more post-rock centered. Over time, members changed, and they shifted toward a more intensely emotional sound. Being from Okinawa, they operated at their own "my pace" speed. Without any official breakup news or updates, they simply continued their "standstill" in secret, embracing the Nankurunaisa (it’ll all work out) style. As a result, they have somehow arrived at their first-ever solo release in 20 years of formation. According to the info, the lineup has changed yet again, but while their direction remains steady, you can clearly hear the traces of them meticulously refining their songs, step by step. What they’ve created is a soundscape that is "Gekijou" in its purest form—a rarity these days. I am certain this noble isolation will sound incredibly fresh to young ears who only know the newer styles of the genre. This record serves as a "status report" for me to confirm their survival from afar—seeing how they steadily make their name known through interactions with bands old and new, all while maintaining their Okinawan stance of welcoming travelers, fulfilling their role as a "hub," and never failing to introduce people to Habushu (snake liquor). Their new release is their first in 8 years since 2016 and their second album in an astonishing 17 years. This work includes a cassette tape along with a download code for the MP3 files and the PDF version of the ZINE. ◆ Recording and mixing were handled by member Ken-Shirou Mori. Mastering was done by TJ.Lipple, who is well-known for his work on numerous DC releases. This latest release—their first in three years—marks a bold new chapter. The band has evolved into its most formidable lineup yet, featuring original members alongside official drummer Junpei Yamamoto (LOOLOWNINGEN, etc.) and longtime live support bassist Mikio Matsuzaki (Stim, Dengaryu & Kaisersoze, etc.). Musical Concept The band channels the minimalism of pioneers like Steve Reich, the euphoric energy of techno/dance legends like Jeff Mills, and the ambient philosophies of Brian Eno. They confront the sprawling complexity of the modern landscape by bridging the physical band-manners of post-rock (exemplified by Tortoise) with the cosmic, traversing sensibilities of Floating Points. In this work, Rupurizu has further purified the ensemble sound established in their previous records while soaring into a unique world-building vision, aided by the participation of Hiki in the conceptual making. Even more striking, it has been a decade since their 1st album, JUNK HEAD (2013). Now, in 2023, PLAY DEAD SEASON makes an unexpected and triumphant return with their 2nd album. Their signature sound—a raw, driving, rockin’ hardcore—is hard-edged and angular, inheriting the DNA of bands like Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, and Jawbox, as well as Japan’s own cowpers. 台湾で活動するHCトリオ、US:WEのダンが主宰しているレーベル（22records）からのリリースで「台湾・韓国・日本」3バンドによる3way split CDです。1曲目から13分と言う長尺トラックをかますのが2008年結成の横浜のオルタナブルーストリオ、GLDN。ライブではツインギター・ドラムと言った編成だが、音源ではベース、オルガン、ピアノ等も重なっており、オリエンタルでサイケな、そして確かにストーナー感もあります。多分ライブも煙い。韓国のPAKKは2014年に結成された韓国のヘヴィロックトリオ。ポストロックをベースに、ヘヴィネス、グランジ、サイケデリック、激情等をミックスしたそのサウンドは、丁寧な演奏力と共に韓国内の数々の音楽賞にノミネートされている実力派。台湾のUS:WEは2008年に結成したスクリーモ/ハードコアバンド。幾度のメンバーチェンジを重ねて現在に至る。スクリーモの先を探そうとする姿勢のダンと、彼の独特なギターディレイの使い回しがとても良い。国内外多くのバンドとの懸け橋ともなっている台湾の貴重なDIYバンドである。装丁は7インチジャケットを模した仕様。中身はCDです。全7曲で47分は聴きごたえアリ。2023年7月にJAPAN TOURも決定！是非体験してみてください。

関東の4人組。激情と言うか、今で言うskramz的なバンドの一つでは無いだろうか。1stの「robot a」はカナダの激情レーベル、ZegemaBeachRecodings内のTomb Tree Tapesからカセットリリースもしているんだけど、そもそもこれずっと勝手に「ロボ太」って読んでました。。。さて2nd、実はリリース前に拝聴させて頂いており、セイハロリリースと言う噂もありましたが、セルフリリースの方が生きると感じてました、作品がね。装丁の細かさも小煩い先人達に近いイメージもありますが、曲はまた違った趣向でするりと聴ける作品。Voの音量が意外とデカいからか、ある種歌モノとしても捉えられ、る？。激情と言うジャンルが一つの到達点を迎えた2010年代から、前出したskramzと言うワードと共に迎えた2020年代。前作含めコロナ禍と共にやって来たこのバンドは、ゲラゲラと笑いながら、酒を飲みながらまた次作を作るのだろう。あとの解釈は3LAに任せた！

2023年リリース、raikaの3曲入りep コロナの影響だろうか、いや関係無いか？多分ジャパニーズ激情の括りになるであろうが、このミッドテンポのレイドバック感こそ90〜00年代を掘っていたおじさん達にはツボであろう。かと言って先人をなぞるだけでは無く、コロナ禍マターも入れつつ、かと言って気を衒うでもなく、ひたすらに「あ〜そこそこ！」とハマる(ハメる)ツボ職人。多分プロデュースしたい(能書き言いたい)おじさま達がいっぱいるんだろうなと思いました(笑)。ロストしていたコロナ禍の中で孤軍奮闘していた筆頭かと思います。23年の侘び寂び型(ジャパニーズ)激情、大変お勧めです。

2012年暮れに結成。 ループサンプラーを駆使し、リアルタイムで演奏を多重録音して、音像を構築するバンド。 主に、ミニマル、ポストロック、サイケ、アンビエントなどの影響下にある。 スタジオでの楽曲制作を主体とした活動の末、現在まで4枚のデモを発表。 ギターの中川は、2013年まで"BEYONDS"で活動。 ドラマーの兒玉は"Gauche."や"GOLIATH"などのバンドや、 シンガーソングライターのサポート、ソロユニットなど多岐にわたり活躍中。 レコーディング・エンジニアにtaichi氏(stim)、マスタリングに木村健太郎氏(kimken studio)を迎え敢行。 そのサウンドは"Tortoise"と言った王道ポストロックから、"YPPAH"等のエレクトロニカにも通じた美しいサウンドスケープ。 ループサンプラーを使用し3人編成でミニマルな世界感ながら音源を完全再現するライブパフォーマンスは圧巻。

東京発日本語詩オルタナティブ・スリーピース・バンド「OSRUM」と、自称カリフォルニア発名古屋永住系ナード・メタル・バンド「DOIMOI」によるスプリットCDが登場。OSRUMは2014年発表のアルバム以来、DOIMOIは2012年発表のアルバム以来の待望のリリースとなりました。マスタリングはツバメスタジオ君島結、ジャケットデザインはPOWER/UNPRODUCTSの根本歩が担当。当初7インチでのリリースを視野に入れていた為、各１曲ずつの収録となりますが、4Pデジパック2枚組CDと言うリッチな装丁となりました。レーベルは「OSRUM MUSICAL INDUSTRIES」から。リリース後は東京、名古屋、奈良でのリリースツアーも有り！
