リリースとしては2015年「This Time We Will Not PromiseAnd Forgive」とのスプリット以来8年振り。2013年の1stアルバム「JUNK HEAD」からは何と10年振りとなるPLAY DEAD SEASONまさかの2ndアルバムが2023年に登場。
彼らの真骨頂である荒々しくドライビンなロッキンハードコアサウンドは、母体とするDRIVE LIKE JEHUやHOT SNAKES、JAWBOX、日本ではcowpers等のバンドの血を受け継いだかの硬質で鋭角的なもの。そして本作より新メンバーに大塚(gt/exMOTHER)を迎え、よりPDSらしく、よりドライビンに昇華し、鳴らしまくった作品へと仕上がった。

アートワークは前作同様ex200MPHのHYS氏に依頼。レコーディングエンジニアはvo印南のサイドプロジェクト「DON GIGLIO」でもタッグを組む小谷昌兵が担当。そしてマスタリングはfugaziのリマスター及び数々のDC作品を手掛けるTJ Lippleが担当。

リリース直前には米・テキサスからの刺客、PSWINGSETとこちらも10年振りに行われる2回目のカップリングツアーも決定。

This marks their first release in eight years, following their 2015 split with "This Time We Will Not Promise And Forgive." Even more striking, it has been a decade since their 1st album, JUNK HEAD (2013). Now, in 2023, PLAY DEAD SEASON makes an unexpected and triumphant return with their 2nd album.

Their signature sound—a raw, driving, rockin’ hardcore—is hard-edged and angular, inheriting the DNA of bands like Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, and Jawbox, as well as Japan’s own cowpers. With the addition of new guitarist Otsuka (ex-MOTHER), the band has pushed their identity further than ever, sublimating their sound into something even more "PDS"—faster, more driving, and played at maximum intensity.

The artwork was once again handled by Mr. HYS (ex-200MPH), maintaining visual continuity from their previous work. The album was tracked by recording engineer Shohei Kotani, who also partners with vocalist Innami in his side project DON GIGLIO. Mastering was handled by TJ Lipple, a veteran of numerous D.C. hardcore classics and the Fugazi remasters.
